New paper on freshwater ecoacoustics with Camille Desjonquères, Gea van der Lee, Michiel Kraak and Piet Verdonschot from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We worked on Dutch ditches looking at the link between the soundscape and structural and functional indicators. We found a strong relationship with oxygen dynamics suggesting that acoustics could help monitor stream metabolism!
France Inter Radio Show
Our research was covered by the French France Inter radio show La Terre au Carré
Welcome to Sarah and Alexandre!
Sarah Obaid and Alexandre Folliot arrived to start their PhD and Master project respectively. Sarah will work on bird acoustic communities inhabiting freshwater habitats in Kuwait as described in the new project dB@AlJahra. Alexandre will work on the use of AI to analyse the data of the dB@Risoux project. Welcome on EAR board!
Le Monde Plan B on traffic noise
We participated to this Le Monde report about the effects of traffic noise on human health and biodiversity. In French.
Paper in The Conversation France
We have just published an article (in French) about ecoacoustics in the online media The Conversation France.
Conference at Université de la Réunion
We gave a conference at the Université de la Réunion, where great research is conducted on coral reef ecoacoustics by Simon Elise and Henrich Bruggemann.
New project about ecoacoustics and education
The new project dB@PePaSon led by Arthur Enguehard mainly aims at exploring the role and importance of using ecoacoustics, and more specifically soundscape recording, as a main education support.
Art-Science event in Lille, France
At the occasion of the art exhibit opening Le chant des vers by Daniela Lorini at LILLIAD (Learning center Innovation, Lille, France), we will give a conference and participate to a discussion about the use of acoustics to tackle biodiversity related topics. 2019-12-02. More details here.
